The Stop Meta campaign involves a wide range of activities.
Below you can see all the different actions I plan to carry out.
You can also visit the timeline for a more detailed overview of everything happening around the campaign.
At the moment, the following activities are planned:
- Inform the Head of Public Affairs for Meta in the Nordics, Martin Ruby, about the campaign and its progress. I do not want Meta to claim they were not warned. I am seeking dialogue rather than conflict — although I do not have high expectations when it comes to Meta.
If you want to help, connect with Martin Ruby on LinkedIn and let him know you are following the campaign. Here is his profile: Martin Ruby | LinkedIn. - Submit a formal complaint to the Danish Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) regarding Meta Platforms Ireland Limited’s failure to comply with GDPR Article 15.
You can read more here: How I Raised a complaint regarding GDPR article 15 with the Danish “Datatilsynet”. - Submit a formal complaint to the European Commission and the Danish Competition Authorities regarding Meta Platforms Limited Ireland’s non-compliance with the Digital Markets Act.
- Write to Danish agencies that are Meta partners to inform them about the complaints submitted, what this means for them as Meta partners, and to request their feedback.
- Inform Danish business interest organizations that support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that I have submitted a complaint regarding Meta Platforms Ireland Limited’s non-compliance with the Digital Markets Act, and explain the implications for Danish companies.
- Inform IT spokespersons in the Danish Parliament that I have submitted this complaint, along with the implications for Danish companies.
- Send a letter to all Business Offices within Danish local municipalities, as they frequently promote Meta’s platforms in their digital marketing activities aimed at small companies.
- Reach out to the media to explain my story, the complaints submitted, and the consequences for Danish businesses.
If everything goes well, and the European Commission takes action in my favour, I will proceed with legal action against Meta Platforms Ireland Limited and seek compensation for the losses incurred.
This will hopefully create a legal precedent that other companies can follow.
